On this page you’ll discover how I can help you to prepare for your upcoming presentations at conferences, online summits, live events organised by professional organisations, or other speaking engagements such as webinars. If you’re organising your own events or you want to offer your existing training content to a wider audience, my consultancy service gives more comprehensive support in this area.
Presentation training
Whether you’re presenting your ideas and expertise to colleagues, exhibiting at a fair or exhibition, or talking about yourself at a job interview, good speaking skills are essential.
These situations can be challenging, especially if you’re someone who usually avoids speaking in public. But they can also be an excellent way to increase your visibility, show what you know, and meet people whom you otherwise would never have encountered! You might even enjoy yourself 😉
My role is to support you as you prepare, give some structure to what you do, give encouraging but honest feedback, and help you make the best of the opportunity.
In the training sessions, I will help you in one or all of these areas:
You will have the chance to speak, develop your language skills and your confidence to shine in situations where others are listening to you. This training is suitable when you are planning to give a presentation at an event or your submission has already been accepted. You’re applying for your dream job or you’ve already got the invitation to a job interview. It’s for something specific that we can work towards.
Case study
The challenge
My client is an expert in her field and she’s used to giving presentations in her first language. She was preparing to deliver one of her presentations in English and she wanted to feel more confident about presenting her material as clearly and eloquently in English as she would in her first language.
What we did
We worked together in several meetings before the event using the client’s material. In the sessions we:
- Practised delivering the content in English – looking at the content, how it flowed, the choice of language, and how the client used her voice.
- Discussed questions around the best words for the job and clarified some pronunciation points.
- Identified and tried to reduce speaking habits that my client had adopted in English but that weren’t part of her normal speech.
- Made sure that everything made sense to an international English-speaking audience.
- Worked with spontaneous potential questions – because not everything can be rehearsed!
The outcome
I wasn’t there at the event, but it went well. My client felt more relaxed and confident about presenting because we’d gone through the presentation together and addressed her challenges. She’d had feedback and the opportunity to ask any questions. She’d also shown me and therefore proved to herself how well she could do it before the day of the event came round!
